Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope producer Xavier Manzanares talked about how the sequel came about and the ideas behind the project.
The producer of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope , Xavier Manzanares, revealed in the course of an interview how the sequel was born and what were the ideas behind the project which, as we know, will include several new features compared to Kingdom Battle. including the absence of the grid on the pitch, the ability to explore the different worlds available in the game and much more.
It all started in 2018, we were completing Donkey Kong Adventure and checking our work up to that point, the best things we had done, the new things we had added and what we wanted to do in the future, ”said the producer.
I went to Milan to visit our studios there and there was me, the producer Gian Marco Zanna and the creative director Davide Soliani discussing what the next steps would be. One thing we quickly established is that if we wanted to make a new Mario + Rabbids with the approval of Nintendo and Ubisoft, it should have been amazing.
It couldn’t have been the same surprise as Kingdom Battle in 2017, which came out of nowhere: no one expected it and we couldn’t repeat it. (…) So we thought about the possible changes to the gameplay to make something that was more than a sequel and that could take by surprise players who had tried Kingdom Battle or who had no experience with strategy at all.
In short, the idea behind Sparks of Hope has always been to broaden the horizons of the possibilities offered by Kingdom Battle, providing players with greater freedom of exploration and approach to combat.
We remind you that Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will be available starting October 20, 2022 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
