Apple’s first virtual reality headset will arrive in early 2023, but it won’t be cheap. On the contrary. This is said by Ming-Chi Kuo, a prolific analyst specializing in the behind-the-scenes of the Cupertino company.
Ming-Chi Kuo also in this case tries to anticipate Apple ‘s moves , and he does so both thanks to his privileged sources – employees of the company, but also of its suppliers – and thanks to his instinct as a seasoned analyst.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will unveil its first headset with an ad hoc event set for January 2023 . Apple, in other words, doesn’t want its new product to share the stage with other devices. Therefore, its launch will take place with an event exclusively dedicated to virtual and augmented reality.
The analyst also anticipates the possible price of the product. As already speculated by several other sources in the past, the headset will not be cheap at all. Forget a product designed for the masses, the one that will arrive, perhaps, in several years. Apple’s first VR headset will cost over $ 2,000 . It will be a product designed for an extremely demanding public. How demanding? Well, enough to want a product with 8K resolution , 12 cameras for tracking the movement of the hands and a processor of the latest generation (Kuo talks about the M1 Pro, other sources, however, expect an M2).
Yet despite the price, Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple expects to sell at least 1.5 million units in 12 months. Of course, a number far from the nearly 100 million iPhones sold every year, but still not negligible.
