Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke at the closing session of the 13th Ambassadors Conference.
Çavuşoğlu said, “Our aim ( in Syria ) is to clear terrorists. But we also said that there should be peace between the opposition Syrians and the regime, and that we, as Turkey, can support this.” Minister Çavuşoğlu also touched upon the issue of whether there is contact with the Syrian regime and said, “There is no contact at the moment. In the past, there were inter-intelligence talks, now it has started again. At the Non-Aligned Meeting, while chatting with other ministers in Belgrade, I also had a short conversation with the Syrian Foreign Minister.” Stating that Sweden and Finland, which want to become members of NATO, have not fulfilled their commitments yet, Çavuşoğlu
announced that the joint mechanism meeting will be held on August 26 with the participation of delegations from the two countries.
