As a result of the rescue work carried out with the helicopter sent to the scene, the truck driver was removed from the vehicle. The driver, who was in the vehicle that fell into the river, managed to escape by his own means.

The bridge, approximately 150 meters long and opened in 2012, connected the western bank of the Gudbrandsdalslaagen River with the village of Tretten.
