The TV series will be “huge” and very faithful to the video game, according to Amazon.

After Sony had already anticipated the announcement, official confirmation from Amazon has finally arrived in the past few hours: God of War is about to become an ambitious TV series produced by Prime Video .

The show will be inspired by the God of War precursor Ragnarok (which you can find on Amazon ) and should therefore bring the first beloved adventure faced by Kratos and Atreus to the small screen.

The showrunners and writers of the series have also already been announced: Rafe Judkins ( The Wheel of Time ), Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby ( Children of Men, Iron Man, The Expanse ) will take care of the series for what promises to be one of the show most ambitious ever at PlayStation.

Even if we still don’t know who the main performers will be — the “real” Kratos has already applied , in this regard, together with Freya and Atreus — the head of Amazon Studios has already had the opportunity to confirm some first big details , promising to be very faithful to the video game counterpart.

God of War, the TV series will be "incredibly faithful" to the video game: here are the first details

In an interview with Collider (via GamingBolt ), Vernon Sanders confirmed that the God of War TV series should make all the players who have experienced the original adventure happy, thus satisfying even those who do not know the game at all history:

“At the heart of it all is this story of fathers and sons, of families who find themselves against this gigantic and epic landscape. I think what Rafe [Judkins], Mark [Fergus] and Hawk [Ostby] came up with for Season 1, and the entire series, is both incredibly faithful to the source material and engaging on its own merits .

If you have never played it, you will fall in love with the series and feel welcome within it. So, we think it’s going to be huge .”

From Sanders’ words we therefore learn not only that the game will be extremely faithful to the video game produced by Santa Monica, but also that it will have more than one season.

It is unclear whether this means that the story of God of War will be divided into several parts or if, more simply, the second season would be dedicated to the events narrated in Ragnarok , but Kratos fans will be able to enjoy for a long time a story that could perhaps turn out to be even more compelling.

At this point, we just have to wait for more news and find out who the main performers will be: pending an official announcement, fans have already identified 5 perfect actors to play Kratos .
